Holloway Summer Dress

You can even play “spot the Holloway” as her dresses are often seen on TV. Coronation Street’s Julie Carp had a lovely pink and white spot Holloway dress on in the summer.  (see right)

70s Boho – Autumn 2011 Fashion

If you are a larger / plus size lady and looking for 70s influence or styling this Autumn I have just found these lovely tunics / dresses from SimplyB.  Sizes are from 14 to 32 in the UK.  This first photo is a tunic top, and long enough to be worn as a dress if you wish to with leggings or chunky 70 denier tights.  Made from jersey viscose with side ties.  Team up with a lovely wide brimmed hat and you are sorted!

Sticking with the Boho look is this fabulous dress below.  V-neck with a thin velvet ribbon under the bust line.  These empire line dresses are so pretty and drape nicely over hips and tummy areas, and this one has shirred cuffs and a luxurious satin lining to the main dress body. Made from polyester chiffon so light and floaty.

Vintage Influence on Autumn 2011 Shoes!

There are some stunning shoes for this Autumn and Winter on the market in the UK.  I have just been thumbing through the Next catalogue and found some gorgeous shoes all with a vintage influence and ebay is a great place for vintage style shoes and if you are lucky you can also pick up originals.

The heeled brogue looks like it will be a huge hit over Autumn, so this is a great time to grab yourself a pair if you are looking for a 40s style shoe.  Although in British fashion you may not see many heeled brogue styles in the 1940s, they were widely available in America in patent and matt leather and with this style heel they are really easy to wear with a heel height at about 3″.

Heeled Brogues Ideal for WW2 or 1940s

I like these pair below even more, they are brilliant for 1940s, re-enactment if you are going to be on your feet all day at somewhere like Goodwood Revival!   You can completely flat shoes like this on ebay, if you prefer no heel at all.

These two shoe styles below are both on ebay and ideal for revival or vintage events.  The flat heeled shoes are a little pointy, but is it worth worrying about for a comfy shoe?

There are some stunning heeled shoes available too, with pretty 40s and 50s influences taken from Hollywood.  The peep-toe with ankle strap would look fabulous with tea and evening dresses; there is something very pretty about an ankle strap. Current heels trends are a lot higher, in fact most of the shoes I have seen this season are nearly 5″.  Some compensate the heel height with half an inch of sole height, but I am not sure my Achilles would cope with these anymore (sighs).
